Yankee Doodle went to town, watched a parade, saw fireworks, and made a stop at Walmart

Well the 4th of July for us wasn't extremely eventful, but it was still fun. Matt was scheduled to work from 9-6 so, we weren't planning on doing anything but going to watch fireworks. At about noon I got a call from Matt telling me that his work was sending him home early because it was slow. So he came home, we had lunch, and then tried to figure out what to do with the rest of our day.

We decided to go to Sandy City Hall and watch the Sandy parade. I hadn't seen it since when I was in it for cheer, which was about 8 years ago. It wasn't a very large parade, but there were some fun things. After the parade, we headed over to where the vendors' booths were to look around. I was so excited because I thought that I would be able to find a food booth with funnel cake. Sadly, I checked at every booth and couldn't find any. Rather than get dinner from one of the booths, we decided to leave and go to Del Taco - much lighter on the pocket book. When we finished dinner we headed back to Sandy City Hall, with blanket in hand, and found a spot on the grass to watch the fireworks. With 4th of July being my favorite holiday, it's just not complete without tons of fireworks. It was a nice way to end the night...except that's not what ended it.

While driving home on the freeway, we noticed a cop following very closely behind us. When Matt changed lanes to exit off the freeway, so did the cop...and then came the lights. The cop came up to our window to ask us if we were aware that our tail lights weren't working. Well, we weren't. Luckily the cop only gave us a warning. We got home and Matt checked the fuses. We found out one was blown and since Matt had to work late the following days, we needed to fix it ASAP so he didn't drive home in the dark without tail lights again. So we ended the night with a late night trip to Walmart for stuff to fix it. Gotta love good ol' 24 hour Walmart.

LOVE bagpipes!

And for those of you who didn't get to see cool fireworks...
