Happy Birthday Whitney! <:D

I still remember that day you joined my first grade class and I volunteered to show you around. Who would have thought that all this time later, through the things life throws at us, that we'd still be friends?

In true first grade fashion, I present you with an acrostic poem. Remember when I drew a picture of you and spelled your name wrong on it? I promise I'll get it right this time.

Worked with monkeys. Awesome.
Has a love for Disneyland and all things Disney.
Intelligent - she is currently pursuing a master's degree at BYU. Smarty pants.
Travels - She's been to Africa, Italy, various places in Europe, and is moving to San Fran for the summer
Noodles - 'nuff said.
Engaged! and gets married in 11 days! holy crap!
Years of life - 24

Happy Birthday, Whit!

Happy Birthday Emily <:D

In honor of her day of birth, I'll share some things I love and admire about Emily.

- She is so much stronger than people realize
- She is my ultimate shopping/fashion buddy
- She could probably still look cute in the ugliest of outfits
- She's creative with words
- She has a knack for thinking outside the box and seeing things in a different way.
AND... she's a very soon to be college graduate! Hooray!!

Happy Birthday Jennifer <:D

Happy, Happy Birthday Jenn!

When I was little I wasn't too fond of Jennifer. Her and Em were close in age and seemed to do everything together. Me, being the younger annoying sister, felt left out and usually blamed it on Jenn being mean. Jennifer and I are also about as opposite in personality as two can get. But as I grew up, I realized she wasn't as bad as I'd thought. : P

Here are some things I think about when I think of Jenn.

- I admire her bravery, independence, and outgoing-ness.
Did you know she went to China all alone? And also moved to New York without knowing anyone.
- She doesn't take crap from people
- She's smart - she skipped a grade, and could have skipped two - or so my parents say...
- Fearless
- She was the "tom-boy" girl of the family, and manages to look super pretty even when she doesn't try
- She travels
- She always seems happy and optimistic, yet realistic

Happy Birthday Sharon <:D

Sharon and I met in the 6th grade and the first thing I remember noticing about her was her cartoon drawings. She has such a quirky, fun side to her but is also very smart and my opinion, business savvy. I wish I could have those talents to the capacity that she does.

Here are just a few things I love about her:

- She knows more about video games than anyone else I know

- She shares my love of food and baked goods - ethnic food lunches ftw!

- She always makes time to see me when she comes into town - since she has to live in san fran and all...

- She is brave with her fashion choices

- She doesn't mind my weirdness or bluntness

This is super old but sadly, it's the only picture I could find of just me and her

If you're interested in her food blog - check out Sharon's Food Adventures

Happy Birthday Matthew <:D

The big two four! Ooo.

I haven't known Matt for the full 24 years obviously, but I have known him for over 1/3 of it. And although we dated for 5 1/2 years before we were married, I'm still learning little things about him. Here are some things I've learned since we've been married.

If you let him fall asleep first, he'll sprawl out and take over the bed, leaving you with little sleeping space
He can spend many hours reading about anything car related - specifically subarus
He is content with letting me control what is on TV - even sitting through my weekly hour of Grey's Anatomy
He doesn't like frosting on his cupcakes
I think he enjoys animals about as much as me
If you walk into a room while he's been alone or tuning out, you might just catch him singing a made up song or talking to himself
He generally out does me in anything that involves gifts
He has love for Thai food
And my personal favorite, he often unnecessarily leaves a little bit of food in his dish after a meal. For instance, he'll eat an entire bowl of Apple Jacks, and leave one Apple Jack in the bowl. I've never quite understood this.

So maybe for his birthday I'll sing him a special made up birthday song, get him a cat, take him out to Thai food, buy a bigger bed, purchase those car related items he keeps reading about, let him have the remote for the day, and bake him chocolate cupcakes sans frosting. We'll see about that...

Happy Birthday Deeanna <:D

Today is my oldest sister's birthday so I thought she earned a blog post. I don't think she really reads my blog, but oh well. Since she is 13 years older than me, I don't remember much time actually living with her but I still have my share of memories.

Here are some things I know/remember about her.

- When I was little she let me sit on her bed and hold a stuffed white poodle she had
- She is a health food nut
- When she lived in Layton I used to spend weekends at her house and I was always so excited to eat her cooking. (She always used lots of veggies which I love)
- I don't remember her ever having long hair, although pictures I have seen have proved she did once.
- She can be very stubborn (who in the Toy family isn't?)
- She always dresses up for Halloween
- Sometimes I'd ride in the car with her and we'd listen to Beastie Boys "License to Ill" which I still find hard to believe
- She loves her china flats
- She makes an effort to be unique and doesn't have a problem going against the grain
- She hates being cold!
