M|m: How Cute!

That's animal love.
And yes, we make little  food platters for our chewskis too.
It's worth it when you get to watch them enjoy it.

Espresso anyone?

Just chillin'

Shh...we're spooning
Look at those feet!

I is panda cat

M|m: Hamsterdam

This commercial makes me laugh every time. And of course, I love anything with animals- especially rodents.

There is a shoe named after me

They even spelled my name right! Too bad they aren't more my style or I'd buy them since I have a coupon and all.

In other shoe news... Why are shoes like this even around? Or these. Or these. Or even these. Seriously what is that? A sandal with a permanent sock attached in case it gets cold? Super sexy. Unfortunately, there are way too many awful shoes for me to link them all. Next time you're shopping online browse the shoe collection. You'll see for yourself.

Things about Matt

So every time I write a blog, Matt's ongoing joke is to ask me if I'm blogging about him. Since I haven't blogged in a while and I've been stuck on something to write about, I figured I'd do just that, blog about Matt. So here are some randoms about him.

-His salad dressing of choice is vinaigrette

-He hates flip flops

-He is of Italian and German descent

-He has blue eyes

-He loves chocolate cake and hates sour cream and pineapple

-He is very picky about his shirt collars

-He could probably eat pasta salad every day

-He can spend hours fixing up his car and thinking of new ways to modify it

-He can often find interesting ways to fix something so that it works

-He has broken two bones, his arm and his collar bone

-He made a dress shirt for himself and a skirt for me in a sewing class in high school. and yes i did wear the skirt, it was cute.

-He played ice hockey as a child, lacrosse in high school, and currently plays in a men's roller hockey league.

-His favorite colors are red and black

He is not a big movie buff but if he's going to watch a movie, he enjoys comedies

-He generally doesn't care what people think about him - a pro and sometimes a con of his personality

-He has a certain strangeness about him that is hard to describe and usually involves his sense of humor and explains his randomness. If you know him well enough, you understand it and know what I am talking about.

I love this boy

Hooray for Stanley Cup Finals!

Awesome save by Sidney Crosby, who, if you can't tell, is not the goalie - and even if you don't appreciate hockey, still a wicked save.

For those of you who don't know, Sidney Crosby is a Canadian hockey player and is the captain for the Pittsburgh Penguins(my favorite team). At 21, he was the youngest team captain to win a Stanley Cup. He also played on the Canadian Olympic team in February and scored the game winning goal against USA. He is pretty much amazing.

Because I like taking pictures of my food

So today Matt and I went out to eat with my parents and the monkeys. I was attracted to a cute little cookie that made me think of this.
So I took a picture...
Too bad it was filled with some strange jelly substance. Not so tasty, but super cute!

Oh, and because I took another picture of my food a while back...is anyone familiar with Iceberg shakes? A couple months ago we happened to be craving a shake after a wal-mart run. I'd never been to Iceberg but it was close so I figured, why not? I ordered a "mini" cheesecake shake. Upon getting my treat, I noticed the name is a bit of an understatement.

Yes, that was about 3 times bigger than I was expecting and I could not even come close to finishing it.
Yes, it was the smallest size available.
Yes, I did see a girl walk to a table with one in each hand.
Yes, they were both for her.

Farewell Olympics. See you again in a couple years.

I'll miss...

Watching this speedy man break records

Being entertained by this lovely duo

Seeing this man grab the much deserved gold medal

Rooting for this woman to overcome her injuries

Feeling excitement when this guy flips crazily in the air

And the intense moments that came with the two amazing games against Canada, played by this valiant team

Thank you, USA Olympic athletes for reminding me how proud I am to be an American and providing unlimited viewing pleasure for the last 16 days. Now onto London and then hello, Sochi - Where hopefully I'll once again get to watch that speedy man break records.

Look What We Got!

If any of you read a previous post, you'll know that our little rat Havarti passed away a little over a month ago. We were so sad to see her go that soon. Ever since her cage was empty, we were looking forward to some new rats. About a week after she passed away, we found two little girls from a litter that had just been born. Since they were so new, we had to wait 5 weeks to get them so they could spend the right amount of time with their mom and be fully weened. This last Thursday we finally got to bring them home! We were very excited. The 5 week wait seemed much longer than we anticipated. It is nice to have them so young. When we got Havarti she was already a few months old and she took a lot of working with to get her better socialized. Since these two girls are from a breeder, they've pretty much been handled since birth and are very used to human hands and people around them. They are so soft to pet and so tiny! Their fur feels like velvet. It's only been a couple days but we are already having so much fun with them and can really see their different personalities.

This is Roxy

She is such a crazy, energetic girl. She's a little daredevil. She runs all over the place and jumps off things and climbs on everything. She loves to play "tag" with your hand and she likes it when Matt flips her over and tickles her belly. She has a lot of Havarti personality.

This is Lyla
She is our shy girl. She's much more calm than her sister and a little hesitant of new things. Unlike Roxy, Lyla is a little more content to just sit in your hands or walk around on your lap. Sometimes she gets jumped on or run over by her sister, but I don't think she minds too much.

Thanksgiving is officially over...

So bring on the Christmas cheer!

Usually I don't get all that excited for Christmas. Generally I just feel like it ruins my birthday :P But this year I was ready for Christmas well before usual. I started listening to Christmas music about a week and half before Thanksgiving. Awful I know, but it cheered me up on one of those days where I was a little down, so I kept it up. Now that Thanksgiving is over, I'm free to flaunt my Christmas listening self. So please enjoy the current playlist of holiday songs I have now added to the blog.

I have also changed the normal pictures in my frames around the apartment to Christmas ones, and Matt put up some lights on our balcony and he also put our wreath on the door. Now all we have left is to buy and decorate our Christmas tree. I was also able to hang my most recent craft on the wall the other day.
