So it's been two and a half weeks since we officially moved into our house. It's been a busy and pricey two weeks as well. We've bought a new dresser, an entertainment center, paint, and some other little things to make the house more like a home. And it's still not even to the point we want it. We still have a list of items that we'd like to get done soon, although I'm not sure that it will, or can all get done. Luckily, my parents had an extra set of couches they weren't using that they let us take. That was sure a nice money saver and they fit pretty much perfectly in our family room. We've been on the hunt for side tables and an ottoman and man, is that one a doozy. Who knew furniture could be so expensive? Especially since we've decided to try and stay away from Ikea since our bedroom furniture is that and also the furniture we had in our apartment front room. Our current end table is an upside down box. It's pretty stylin'. We're also on the look out for some cool, larger paintings. If you have some recommendations for artists, hit me up. It's funny because there's two rooms that pretty much have no furniture in them. One, which will be a guest room, and the basement room which we're hoping to make some kind of game room. Everything will get there eventually I'm sure, it's just hard to be able to buy everything within the first month. Plus, we don't really have any guests to be staying with us anyway. So for now, it's the rats' room.
The first week of living here felt so surreal. It was like we were staying in someone else's house and I was going to have to go back to my apartment soon. Now, it's sinking in more. I'm really enjoying the fireplace and lovely space in the kitchen. We don't even have enough stuff to fill all the shelves! Hooray! Gone are the days of stacking dishes on dishes, pots on pans, and overflowing boxes of food stacked on top of my fridge. Our master bathroom is a bit small, but what it lacks in space it makes up for in style ;) And did I mention there's a laundry chute from the master closet to the laundry room? It's pretty awesome. This house has more space than we're used to, but we're really enjoying it. I can't wait til it's warmer and we can enjoy the deck in the backyard. Matt keeps joking that "there's rooms we haven't even gone into yet today!" Matt is loving the garage (it really is soooo nice to have) and slowly making steps for it to be his "man cave." This last weekend he found a pretty nice work table on sale at Harbor Freight. He's pretty excited about the shed we have in the backyard too. There is a "nice" baseball themed room upstairs next to the rat/guestroom that will be a craft room/office. Matt was nice enough to tackle the project of taking down the baseball wallpaper border and get rid of the huge amount of glow in the dark stars. Next we'll paint! I wish we had a picture of this room, but unfortunately I didn't think to take one before the wallpaper came down and surprisingly, the sellers left a picture of this particular room out in the MLS listing.
Anyway, enough blabbing, aka word vomit, about the house. I haven't taken any pictures since we moved in because I've been waiting until things are "picture ready" to reveal what it's like. However, I do have the pictures from the MLS listing. If you're curious, see below.

We plan to add hardware to the cabinets and drawers soon and possibly get a new counter top in the future.
And if we're really feeling like DIYers, we MIGHT glaze the cabinets in the far away future. |

Laundry room complete with laundry chute!
Oh, and a little half bath off of that. |

The baseball themed room is next to this and pretty much identical in layout and size. |

Well hoped you enjoyed the little "house tour." We're very much enjoying living here!

Congratulations on the house! it looks great and I hope we get to come see it sometime.
Congratulations! I love the house! It's hard to believe that my husband and I bought our house almost a year ago... and we STILL haven't found the bottom of the money pit. After new paint, carpet, appliances, light fixtures and furniture I'm wondering when it will all end. We have just had to evenly divide it all out over the course of the year for our wallet's sake. Owning a home is expensive but so worth it.
PS: We have the problem with the extra rooms too! We have just had to close a couple of them off so we don't have to pay to heat them.
Furniture from KSL! haha. That's where I sold everything when I moved. Also, if you like vintage stuff, that store downtown, Elemente, is consignment so sometimes the furniture is reasonably priced.
Thought I would add to the "Emily" comments. Your house looks awesome! So jealous! Great find!
It looks awesome! I can't wait to see how it all turns out.
(And it's true, home ownership is so expensive. The little crap you don't even count on really adds up!)
